Recent headlines warn of the dangers of artificial intelligence, even as we venture further into an AI addiction.
So it’s probably best to release a first trailer for the director Gareth Edwards‘ dystopian epic, ‘The Creator’.
20th Century Studios, New Regency and Entertainment One have just released a terrifying new preview of Edwards’ topical sci-fi thriller, “The Creator,” which hits theaters September 29, 2023 with “Tenet’s” John. David Washington, “Eternal’s” Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe of “Inception”, Sturgill Simpson, Madeleine Yuna Voyles and Allison Janney.
Here is the official synopsis:
In the midst of a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-Special Forces agent mourning the loss of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end war – and humanity itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives travel through enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory… only to discover that the doomsday weapon he has been tasked to destroy is a AI in the form of a young child.
Produced by Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Nick Meyer and Zev Foreman, “The Creator” is directed by Gareth Edwards from an original screenplay by Edwards and Chris Weitz.
Edwards first wowed audiences with his 2010 independent creature feature ‘Monsters’ and 2014 Hollywood kaiju film ‘Godzilla’ before signing on to direct 2016′Rogue One: A Star Wars Story“This ‘Star Wars’ prequel continues to win admirers as a very useful entry for the franchise in light of the negative reception of the most recent one”star wars” sequels, “Revenge of the Sith” and “The Rise of Skywalker”.
Fans of the New York Times bestselling author Daniel Wilson and his novel “Robopocalypse” and sequel “Robogenesis” might see narrative similarities in this trailer for Aerosmith, which reveals blazing laser firefights, malevolent AI machinery, and an overall plan beyond the mental capacities of us little bags of human meat.
Nonetheless, it’s a gripping first look at this fall sci-fi masthead, complete with intense fight scenes and a creepy little android child who may hold the key to humanity’s fate.
“The Creator” hits theaters on September 29, 2023.
