US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has denied that the federal government provides financial aid or assistance to illegal immigrants, prompting a torrent of fact-checkers to come forward and claim they are lying.
“NOTICE: Claims that migrants will receive free travel and transportation to their destination are false,” the official CBP Twitter feed posted Thursday. “The U.S. government does not provide aid or financial support to noncitizens.”
This is the second time they have made such a claim, posting a duplicate tweet about a month ago.
It is unclear what “allegations” they are referring to or if the group was simply trying to extricate themselves from a situation where arriving illegal aliens expect travel and transportation to new locations to be provided.
Regardless, multiple sources were quick to jump on CBP’s claims alternately calling them misleading, false, or outright lies.

CBP gets a brutal fact check or two
The Heritage Foundation think tank arrived and, unhappy with how long Twitter’s community notes were taking to correct CBP’s statement, provided its own fact check.
“Since @CommunityNotes hasn’t appeared yet, we’ll say so. It’s a lie,” they wrote. “The US government pays NGOs to do the work for them.”
The Heritage Foundation provided a link in their search showing that the federal government is using charities “to hide the true cost of the border crisis.”
The report calls funding NGOs through taxpayer funds Biden’s “dirty little secret” and describes them as “charities or nonprofits that are affiliated with religions but spend most of their money and their time helping illegal immigrants settle in the United States”.
That’s right. Your money helps resettle illegal aliens in America so they can take even more of your money through social services or by accepting jobs from Americans or legal immigrants.
From @CommunityNotes hasn’t shown up yet, we’ll tell. This is a lie.

Say more to the CBP lies
Twitter Community Ratings did catch up on the situation and slap the CBP tweet with a little fact checking.
“This CBP statement is misleading because the federal government funds non-governmental organizations such as Catholic charities to assist with travel, food, and lodging for illegal aliens and is coordinated by FEMA,” the statement said. ‘label.
They provide a link to FEMA website promoting more than $332 million in grants to provide “food, shelter and services to individuals and families…who entered through the southwest border and are now awaiting their court proceedings in ‘immigration”.
It’s wrong. Migrants have their journey coordinated with NGOs like Catholic charities with help from the federal government. I witnessed firsthand in Brownsville the countless bus and plane tickets issued like this after being processed. https://t.co/Nus4iJFBvu pic.twitter.com/qIRaWAF3QS

Oh good. So they only provide aid and financial assistance until their court date. Well, at least it shouldn’t take long, should it?
Except that, as reported by The Political Insider earlier this monthdocuments provided to illegal immigrants at the border had court dates set until 2032 and 2035 in Chicago and Florida.
Potentially twelve years of financial assistance and CBP wants you to believe that no, we do not provide financial assistance to illegal immigrants.
Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin also called CBP about his statement.
“This is totally untrue,” he tweeted.
“The U.S. government indirectly provides financial support to migrants by disbursing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to NGOs through FEMA’s Emergency Food & Shelter program,” Melugin continued. “NGOs then help migrants with transportation around the United States and other services.”
This is obviously false.

Just a few weeks ago, Melugin released a video showing a female National Guard soldier opening a door and allowing a large crowd of illegal immigrants to cross the border to private property in Texas.
I asked the Texas National Guard if it was one of their soldiers who opened the door for the group of migrants. They tell me she is NOT a TX soldier and is not TX ARNG. I’m told she’s a Title 10 Soldier of the Missouri ARNG under Federal Government orders and works with BP. pic.twitter.com/zKWy121u1K

The soldier did it, Melugine reportedbecause she was “following CBP guidelines to open the door because the migrants had already crossed American soil and needed to be processed.”
