Like the misdeeds of Brett Favre keeps getting worse, the image of the clean Packers quarterback has deteriorated from all sane walks of life. Tag in Copper Fit, a brand of copper-infused sportswear designed to help reduce pain and increase productivity, which you may have seen in infomercials or put on a pedestal by Favre, one of company “brand champions”.

The LinkTree for Copper Fit is still exploding »Brett Favre’s favorite products” and has a 20% off coupon upon landing on her custom apparel page. The company made the decision to stick with him. Allegations that Favre accepted embezzled millions from family welfare benefits to fund a volleyball arena in Mississippi are widespread. Add to Wednesday’s revelation that former Mississippi welfare agency chief John Davis has reached a plea deal with federal and state prosecutors regarding Favre’s case. It turned heads, to say the least. Now it’s worth wondering if anyone was deaf enough to stick with Favre.

“Copper Fit has worked with Brett Favre for almost 9 years. He has always acted honourably, and we know he is a very decent man,” read the company’s statement on Front Office Sports. “To our knowledge, he was cleared of any wrongdoing two years ago. We are confident that will be the case in the civil suit.

Well, damn it. It turns out that some people can only fall out of favor so far. I wonder how long it will finally take to go back. If Favre was one of Copper Fit’s other two “brand champions,” Jerry Rice or Gwyneth Paltrow, would the company have chosen to stick with the greatest receiver of all time? Or the Oscar winner for Shakespeare in love? The plea deal may just be the tip of the iceberg and we’ll see how strong that position is from Copper Fit.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand why Favre’s story doesn’t transcend sport like Colin Kaepernick or Ime Udoka did it. If you’re guessing because at the time of their most significant incident they were a current figure in the sport, you’re wrong. The All-American, ready to make Favre’s worldly aura and boots in the ground played throughout the NFL, Americana’s elevated sports league, plays here too. What other prototype athlete would have a company on his side if everything reported about Favre’s actions turned out to be true?

Copper Fit est loin d’être la seule entreprise à avoir Favre on his payroll, although he has not yet been charged in the case. It looks like Copper Fit is the only one to stay by his side permanently during this time. Others who have supported Favre in recent weeks include SiriusXM, where Favre last appeared on the air Sept. 13, and Hallow, a Catholic prayer and meditation app, which has no replied to FOS for comment on Friday.
