Andy Sullivan tied for second on six under alongside Joel Stalter and Pablo Larrazabal after the Englishman netted two eagles in his 66.

Local favorite Joost Luiten was in the big group on five under alongside England’s Dale Whitnell and John Parry, Spain’s Alejandro del Rey and Adrian Otaegui, India’s Shubhankar Sharma and Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Campillo said: “I keep doing the same things. I hit my irons really well, the driver is a bit inconsistent but on this golf course it also allows you to play from the fairway.

“I put [on Thursday]which I didn’t do in Belgium, so it was a great day.”

Sullivan, who hit his approach shot on the 15th par four for a superb eagle, revealed after the round that his only previous hole since he started working with caddy Tom Ridley five years ago was also on the Cromvoirt site.

He said: “It was weird because in the five years that me and Tom worked together, I only ever landed one shot and that was here.

“I’ve doubled my numbers so hopefully we can play here every week and Tom looks amazing!”
