During the week ending May 6, the figure put forward for seasonally adjusted initial claims were 264,000, an increase of 22,000 from the unrevised level of 242,000 the previous week. This is the highest level of initial inquiries since October 30, 2021, when it was 264,000. The 4-week moving average was 245,250, an increase of 6,000 from the average not revised from the previous week of 239,250. This is the highest level for this average since November 20, 2021 when it was 249,250.
