McConnell’s staff had been unavailable in an initial statement released late Wednesday evening about McConnell’s downfall, “”Chef McConnell stumbled into a local hotel during a private dinner tonight. He was admitted to hospital where he is receiving treatment.

McConnell, 81, limped after a childhood case of polio in 1944.
McConnell fractured his shoulder in 2019 in a fall at his home in Louisville, Kentucky.
In 2003, McConnell underwent triple heart bypass.
McConnell was first elected to the Senate in 1984 and took office in 1985. He has served as Republican leader since 2007 and Senate Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021.
