Dear friends and esteemed colleagues, I hope this letter finds you deep in the waves of creative inspiration and entrepreneurial fervor that Monday mornings evoke. It is with great gratitude and a hint of nostalgia that I announce my departure as Global Head of Song Management at Hipgnosis Songs Fund, as I begin an exciting new chapter in my journey.
During my tenure at Hipgnosis, I had the honor of working alongside a visionary leader and mentor, Merck Mercuriadis, who achieved remarkable feats for songwriters and revolutionized the music industry for the future generations. I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to have walked through these hallowed halls and collaborated with the entire team, including esteemed people like Ted Cockle, Bjorn Lindvall, Chris Helm, Amy Thompson and Kenny MacPherson.
This movement has been transformative in music history and in my life, having the opportunity to work alongside a catalog of the best music on earth and real evergreen songs has been a dream come true. My time at the Hipgnosis Songs Fund has provided me with a unique advantage that goes beyond traditional music industry experience.
While gaining an in-depth understanding of complex financial mechanisms, I have always remained aware of the “Return on Emotion” (ROE) thesis that I developed around music as an asset class in March 2021.
This exposure gave me a deep understanding of the workings of the financial landscape and a new appreciation for managing timeless assets that hold immeasurable value.
My company JarjourCo will continue to offer end-to-end solutions, such as artist development, rights management, licensing, data analytics, marketing tools, and access to emerging technology like AI through through ecosystem partners to help songwriters, artists, publishers, labels and industry professionals navigate the ever-changing landscape of the music industry, which gives artists and companies the means to act.
Together, we can push the boundaries of what’s possible, drive innovation in the music, interactive and tech industries while having fun! Thank you for being part of the journey thus far, and we are excited to embark on this new chapter with each of you.
