“Top leaders of the North Carolina Legislature have reached an agreement that should expand Medicaid coverage. The momentous deal, announced Thursday, is the culmination of more than a decade of political wrangling and a Republican swing. WRAL reports.
“The agreement will allow North Carolina, at no cost to the state government, to provide health insurance to hundreds of thousands of the state’s working poor. The federal government will pay 90% of the cost, and the rest will be covered by a new tax on hospitals and insurance companies.
