Eat this ancient mushroom! Wear this crystal! Hang upside down!
If only feeling better was that simple.
Focusing on a single food or supplement is like wearing a raincoat that only covers your left shoulder.
It’s just not enough to help you weather the storms of life.
First, nutrition is only part of the mental and emotional health chart.
Things like exercise, stress management, sleep, social support, and a sense of purpose are also key to feeling balanced, strong, and capable.
Second, mental and emotional well-being depends on many different nutrients from many different foods.
(This AN ancient mushroom is not your nutritional panacea.)
In the infographic below, you’ll find ways to create a “raincoat” for better, long-lasting (and complete) mental and emotional health.
If you are a coach…
Remember your scope of practice: You cannot recommend specific foods, drinks or supplements like treatment for depression, anxiety or any other medical condition. That’s what your client’s doctor is for.
Here’s what you CAN do….
- Support clients as they act on their doctor’s advice
- Listen with curiosity and compassion when clients tell you about their challenges
- Inform clients of supplements that might help them and encourage them to discuss this information with their doctor
- Recommend eating habits known to improve mental and emotional health
