Edmonton Oilers defender Nurse Darnell faces a one-game suspension after receiving an instigator penalty late in his team’s 4-1 Game 4 win on Wednesday.
With the game out of reach, both teams engaged in a tough game after whistles. Nurse Fought Vegas Defender Nicolas The Hague in the last minute of the game as part of these altercations and received an instigator penalty on the play. According to Rule 46.21Nurse will be suspended one game pending review because the instigator’s penalty occurred in the last five minutes of the game or in overtime.
Additionally, Rule 46.21 states that Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft will be fined $10,000 if the suspension is upheld.

After the match, Woodcroft said he thought the fight was between two willing fighters.
“It’s not like anyone rolled into a ball”, Woodcroft said. “I believe it started with (Hague) he took off his gloves first and threw the first eight punches.”
The two teams combined for 111 penalty minutes in the game, including a hard slash by Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo on Oilers leading scorer Leon Draisaitl that resulted in a game misconduct for Pietrangelo.
The series is now tied 2-2 with Game 5 scheduled for Friday night in Vegas on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
