The 2023 spring season is over for SEC men’s tennis teams. In the delayed quarterfinals of the NCAA Men’s Division I Tennis Championship, the remaining SEC teams were defeated.
Kentucky
Kentucky Men’s Tennis (27-5) saw a historic 2023 campaign come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats were outscored, 4-2 by Virginia (28-4) in the NCAA Quarterfinals in a game which lasted two days and lasted more than 3.5 hours in all.
This year marked the sixth time in program history that Kentucky has reached the national quarterfinals. It’s also the first time the Wildcats have made the final eight teams in consecutive seasons after reaching the national championship game a year ago.
Georgia
The University of Georgia men’s tennis team won the doubles point and won on two of the top three singles courts, but that wasn’t enough in a 4-3 loss to Georgia State. No. 3 Ohio on Friday in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Georgia ends the season with a 23-7 record after going a perfect 12-0 record in the Southeastern Conference campaign. The Bulldogs reached the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 27th time in 35 years under head coach Manuel Diaz.
Caroline from the south
South Carolina’s No. 8 men’s tennis saw its season end Friday, falling to No. 1 Texas 4-0 in the NCAA quarterfinals with a 22-7 overall record. The match was unconventional with play starting on Thursday May 18 but being forced to postpone to the following day after bad weather swept through the area.
The Gamecocks could only register one singles win that day, with No.10 Samuel snatching a set from National No.1 Spizzirri in a 7-6(4) tiebreaker. They were even in the second set when play was suspended.

With the tag team season officially over for the conference, the NCAA singles and doubles tournaments begin on Monday, May 22. Draws will be announced over the weekend.
