Audius, the blockchain-based music platform based in San Francisco, has appointed Shamal Ranasinghe as Chief Commercial Officer.
Ranasinghe will oversee the company’s relationships with the music industry.
A veteran of the music tech space, Ranasinghe joins Audius from SiriusXM/pandorawhere he was Vice President of Product, Catalog and Creator Management.
He spent nearly eight years with the satellite radio and streaming company, overseeing product development for artists, labels, rights holders, managers and live music partners.
He then managed the launch of the music catalog for direct sale in the on-demand service Pandora and the artist marketing platform (AMP), which provides analysis, music creation and storytelling capabilities to artists, curators and their teams.
Prior to his tenure at SiriusXM/Pandora, Ranasinghe was co-founder of Fluence and Curators.com, which connects curators with their fans and customers.
Ranasinghe was also a co-founder of Topspin Media, a pioneering direct-to-fan marketing platform that helped artists promote and sell to their fans.
Topspin was acquired by Beats Music in 2014. He is also an advisor for Authentic-Artists, Beatclub, Feed.fm and sits on the board of Envelop, a spatial sound system and software non-profit. He has been an advisor to Audius since 2018.
