Skeptics doubt Hunter Biden will be punished after new reports of possible charges

Conservatives on social media have expressed doubts that Hunter Biden will face any form of punishment after reports surfaced that federal agents believe they have enough evidence to charge the first son with multiple crimes.

The Washington Post reported for the first time the evolution of the case, writing that the son of the current president in office could be charged with tax offenses and misrepresentation related to the purchase of a firearm.

The investigation has been ongoing since 2018.

“Initially, the investigation focused on Hunter Biden’s finances related to overseas business dealings and consulting work,” the Post wrote.

“Over time, investigators from multiple agencies focused on whether he failed to declare all of his income and whether he lied on gun purchase documents in 2018. “

WAPO: The Feds believe they have evidence to charge Hunter Biden with two crimes:

one for not declaring income related to his various business ventures.

the other for buying a handgun while declaring that he was not an “illegal user” of narcotics https://t.co/09rK8tio9x

Hunter Biden reportedly answered “no” to a question on a gun transaction record that asked, “Are you an illegal or addicted user of marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic, or other controlled substance?”

Biden was dump from the Naval Reserve after failing a cocaine test and has an open and well-documented history of drug use.

“Lying on the form is a crime,” Politico reported, “although prosecutions for it are extremely rare.”

The Post reports that David Weiss, U.S. Attorney for Delaware, must now decide whether to file those charges.

And with that, some online conservatives expressed serious doubts that Hunter would ever be punished and likely walk away with a slap on the wrist.

“Finally they’ll let it continue to get away with it,” Substack writer Jim Treacher wrote.

“Hunter Biden will not be charged”, a skeptic wrote.

Another Twitter user added“Literally everyone knows how it’s going to be.”

And then there were those who joked that Hunter would be cheeky if he got away with it without a criminal charge.

Fast forward to the end where he walks unhindered and sniffs a rail right on Merrick Garland’s forehead. https://t.co/H23jTDho4W

Liberals outraged by leaks ahead of midterms

The response from the left to the news that charges could – COULD – come for Hunter Biden was very different.

Pundits seemed more focused on expressing sudden outrage that the FBI would dare release such news, especially so close to the midpoints.

Let’s start with Biden’s attorney, who says any source who leaked the status of the investigation to the media should be criminally punished themselves.

“It is a federal crime for a federal agent to disclose information about a Grand Jury investigation such as this,” the attorney said in a statement. “Any agent you cite as a source in your article has apparently committed such a crime.”

Political pundit Elie Mystal was also outraged by the leaks.

“Since apparently it is normal for (the DOJ) to disclose now, CAN WE GET INFORMATION ON WHEN YOU WILL CHARGE DONALD TRUMP AND HIS PEOPLE FOR THE COUP ATTEMPT?”

Mystal, who often misses things, has apparently missed that the DOJ has been leaking negative information about Republicans for years and the media hasn’t had a problem with it.

Moreover, since apparently it is good for @TheJusticeDept to leak now, CAN WE GET SOME INFO ON WHEN YOU WILL CHARGE DONALD TRUMP AND HIS PEOPLE FOR THE ATTEMPT ATTEMPTED???

Ask people who really care about “both sides”.

“A leak to the Washington Post more than 30 days before the midterm (is) in complete violation of so-called DOJ policy,” author Don Winslow wrote.

Turns out Twitter was right.

Merrick Garland’s DOJ was working on something.

They were working on Hunter Biden.

Bloomberg News reports that there is a long-standing policy at the Department of Justice (DOJ) not to conduct any investigation within 60 days of an election.

Liberals, however, only seem to care about this policy when it comes to possible charges against Hunter Biden.

Stephen Miller, editor of The Spectator World, joked about the hypocrisy on display.

“FBI leaks are still bad for everyone!” he tweeted.

As a political insider reported last monthtwo of former President Donald Trump’s top aides had their cellphones seized while about 40 other associates received Justice Department subpoenas within the 60-day deadline.

So Biden’s DOJ is now issuing subpoenas and suing Trump allies, including his lawyers. Has a sitting president, the DOJ, ever taken on his political adversaries like this?

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell – an ally of President Donald Trump – was very recently served with a search warrant and had his cellphone seized by the FBI as he sat in the drive-thru of a Hardee’s in Minnesota.

There was very little media outrage.
