Alabama continued to show why it’s the No. 1-ranked men’s basketball team in the nation and the top seed in the NCAA Tournament by crushing 8-seeded Maryland 73-51 on Saturday night at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Crimson Tide led 28-23 at halftime, but opened the game in the second half by outscoring the Terrapins 45-28.

Jahvon Quinerly and Brandon Miller combined to score 41 points, more than half of Bama’s tally on the night.

Quinerly led the way with 22, hitting 9 of 14 shots from the field. He also added three interceptions.

Miller made just 5 of 17 field goal attempts but added 19 points and seven rebounds for the Bama cause.

Tide 7-foot center Charles Bediako added 10 points and as many rebounds while also stopping two shots.

The Tide team’s defense held Maryland to .352 total shots on goal (19 of 54) and allowed just one 3-pointer on eight attempts.

Alabama improved to 31-5 and qualified for the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Maryland ends its season with a 22-13 record.
