American Music Data Analysis Society Chartmetric made its first business acquisition, buying an artist marketing technology startup sheet.
Co-founded by Stevie Elsworth and Mike Miller, based in the UK leaf claims to be able to “extract data from Spotify & the web to create beautiful, up-to-date spreadsheets in seconds.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Chartmetric says it will now host one of the latest incarnations of Onesheet’s product.
Chartmetric also indicates that the service will continue to be available on www.onesheet.cluband that its team of industry executives, data scientists and computer engineers will work over the next few months to integrate its experience in music data analysis into the onesheet service.
The onesheet platform allows you to search for artists on Spotify to create an electronic press sheet or kit, which can then be formatted and updated with custom images.
Chartmetric explains in the press materials announcing the acquisition that “when the era of social media and music streaming began in the mid-2000s, it became very clear that physical sales statistics and traditional charts could no longer manage the amount of increasingly available audience feedback data”. .
He added, “As well, the artist’s need to market themselves in a modern way evolved, and the electronic press kit, or digital ‘sheet,’ was born.”
The platform tracks data for over 8 million artists, 11 million playlists, and 70 million tracks.
The company raised a $2 million seed round last year.
Founder and CEO of Chartmetric, Sung Cho, says MBW in May that the company’s global customer base includes over 3,000 “separate companies”, over 50,000 paying customers, as well as a “large number of artists” using the company’s free tier.
Geographically, according to Sung Cho, 50% of Chartmetric’s client base is based in North America, 30% in Europe and 20% in the rest of the world.
