Vice President Kamala Harris recently attended an abortion rights conference in Connecticut on Wednesday where she tried to convince the crowd that you can support abortion while maintaining pro-life beliefs grounded in religion.
Harris was in town to show her support for incumbent Rep. Jahana Hayes’ (D-CT) re-election campaign. Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson was also present at the conference.
They are desperate to make abortions a bigger problem than inflation, crime and immigration.

The audience asks a tricky question
Rep. Hayes led Harris into pro-choice vs. faith quicksand with a question from a viewer.
“What would you say to someone who understands why abortion should be a personal decision between a pregnant person and anyone else they decide to include in the conversation, but believes they can’t reconcile that with his faith? Question said.
Harris responded by saying, “That’s such an important point to raise. It’s her choice and it should be her choice to make, whether she chooses a consultation with a loved one, with a health care provider, with her religious leader. She added: “I say this: you don’t have to give up your faith or your beliefs to agree that the government shouldn’t be making this decision for you. It’s literally that basic.
Harris glossed over the fact that the government making decisions for someone was not the issue, but essentially whether or not there was a way to reconcile what you believe and what your faith tells you to to believe. So who emerges victorious?

OK for you but not for me
Kamala Harris isn’t the only Democratic politician who might be confused about the answer to professing a faith that teaches abortion is wrong while very publicly announcing your support for abortion.
President Joe Biden often professes his Catholic faith, but apparently chooses and chooses what principles of Catholicism he will live. His confusion over what he publicly and politically supports in the teachings of his faith was exposed in a bizarre tweet about something his father once said.
Biden tweeted, “My dad used to say, ‘Joey, don’t compare me to the Almighty. Compare me to the alternative. And here’s the deal: Democrats want to codify Roe. Republicans want a ban National Abortion Policy The choice is clear.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is another Democrat who likes to pretend a “devout Catholic”. In May, however, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of Pelosi’s home parish in San Francisco said she would be barred from receiving communion there until she gave up her pro-choice stance.
The controversy is not new. When former secretary of state turned climate czar John Kerry was running for President in 2004, there was speculation that then-Boston Archbishop Sean O’Malley would block Kerry from receiving Communion due to Kerry’s pro-choice views.

A change among the faithful?
The confusing mindset of Kamala Harris and other politicians whose public opinions rival the tenets of their faith can unfortunately prevail. A survey of Catholics in the country may be a good indication.
An AP-NORC poll from June this year showed that when it comes to receiving the church’s holiest sacrament, 77% said Catholics who identify as LGBTQ+ should not be denied the communion.
Of those polled, 76% said those who support the death penalty should not be denied communion, 70% said Catholics divorced without annulment should not be denied, and 66% of practicing Catholics said that pro-choice politicians shouldn’t be denied communion. based on their pro-choice beliefs.
It will be interesting to see if anyone on the left comes up with an explanation that seems perfectly plausible to everyone.
